Legal Administrative Assistant At AIG

AIG has an opportunity for a Legal Administrative Assistant position in the AIG Canada Legal Department. The position is full-time and located at the office of AIG Canada in downtown Toronto.

The successful candidate in this position will assume various operational and administrative support duties as a member of the AIG Canada Legal Department, which is currently comprised of three lawyers. The successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to grow professionally to handle junior paralegal responsibilities under the supervision of the departmental lawyers with respect to a wide variety of projects, with a special emphasis on insurance-related legal and regulatory matters and Corporate Secretarial work.

General Information on the Position

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential administrative support to departmental lawyers, including light research, drafting letters, and organizing electronic files;
  • Organize Committee and Board of Directors meetings, create agendas, distribute electronic Board materials, provide other support for Board of Directors and Board Committee meetings as requested by the Corporate Secretary;
  • Arrange travel, process and manage departmental expenses;
  • Handle provincial insurance license registrations and renewals; extra-provincial corporate registrations and renewals; updates as required to AIG Canada’s provincial and federal regulatory authorities;
  • Maintain minute books, including drafting annual resolutions;
  • Assist departmental lawyers with corporate and regulatory database management, and integrating IT solutions and enhancements for legal data base analysis, storage and retrieval;
  • Review marketing materials under the supervision of departmental lawyers;
  • Provide administrative assistance to AIG Canada’s internal and external auditors;

    Qualifications

  • Minimum post-secondary diploma in a legal administration discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience
  • Strong background in the banking or insurance industry is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Approachable, customer focused and a dedicated, professional style
  • Attention to detail with superior verbal and written communication skills
