Functional Area:
IN - InvestmentThe primary purpose of the job is to be an active contributor on the Manager Research team in the Investment Product Management group working directly and independently on manager due diligence, investment performance analysis, performance commentary for the Board of Trustees, investment marketing and communications and investment training.
As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
1. Manager Due Diligence
Conduct due diligence analysis of current money managers and portfolios specializing in the U.S. and international equity asset classes. Due diligence includes communicating with the money managers to constantly stay abreast of investment process, team, portfolio characteristics including performance attribution, and risk analysis, portfolio positioning, changes in the portfolio and the manager’s outlook as well as documenting meeting notes. Expert in using analytics tool such as FactSet, Wilshire Compass, Morningstar Direct and Lipper. Under limited direction responsible for investigating portfolios and documenting annual and quarterly review meeting notes. Conduct manager searches and manager transitions as needed.
2. Investment Performance Analysis
Analyze performance relative to various indicies, competitor peer groups and market benchmarks. Perform holdings and returns based risk and style analysis. Generate value-added performance analysis reports and portfolio updates for Internal and Outside Trusts.
3. Performance Commentary for the Board of Trustees
Generate performance attribution reports from FactSet for U.S. and international equity funds and write performance commentary for all funds in affiliated series trusts. Collect and source performance attribution from fixed income and balanced fund money managers and analyze and document performance commentary. Generate 15c reports for the Board of Trustees.
4. Investment Marketing
Support marketing group with investment and market analytics for various publications. Assist in the development of marketing pieces for individual funds by working with multiple groups such as marketing, sales, internal compliance and money managers.
5. Investment Communications
Collect and organize source materials from money managers. Distribute publications and facilitate flow of information between managers and sales and marketing staff. Assist in sourcing data, monitoring and updating information on the internet and intranet related to the money managers and sub-accounts of assigned products. Review and substantiate money manager commentary and generate shareholder annual reports for Internal Trusts.
6. Investment Training and Special Projects
Train wholesalers with comprehensive knowledge on funds in the product line-up, money managers and the resources we can leverage through our deep relationships with money managers. Responsible to field investment questions from internal and external wholesalers as well as financial advisers and broker/dealers. Participate in competitive analysis of investment lineups of competitors.
