Job Description

Global Product Manager, Controls & Electronics

Controls and Electronics are strategic across GSI’s product portfolio. From grain and seed to swine, poultry, and egg production, control systems, electronics, and software are central to the user’s operation. These products also influence the buying decision for all equipment on the farm. GSI’s vision is to be the technology leader in all of these markets by developing best-in-class solutions. On the animal protein side of our business, we launched the EDGE ecosystem in late 2015. This platform is still in its infancy and needs a fully-defined roadmap and vision. This platform will also be leveraged for the grain side of our business to fulfill a vision called Advanced Operations Management (AOM).


The Global Product Manager, Controls & Electronics owns the definition, development, and financial success of both EDGE and AOM. (S)he is the face of the products globally and is the driving force behind all product development and market launch activities. (S)he is a tireless advocate for promoting the product line internally and commercially.


Job Function and Responsibilities
  • Understands and documents regional customer requirements, from installation, operation, and maintenance standpoints
  • Creates product specifications/backlog, pushing customer-centric features
  • Understands the existing product architecture and vision
  • Acts as Product Owner in Agile product development process, prioritizing the product backlog
  • Tirelessly trains, evangelizes, and promotes EDGE and AOM solutions with internal and external customers, ensuring their market success
  • Develops strong relationships with regional stakeholders and business units

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Bachelor Degree engineering, computer science, business, or other degree with demonstrated relevant experience in technical product development and management

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in new product development and product management
  • Strong software and electronics background
  • Strong UX and VOC experience…a real passion for solving customers’ needs
  • Balances tactical and strategic issues
  • Clearly communicates both upward and downward with stakeholders
  • Strongly influences across departments and regions without direct authority
  • Business acumen (NPD business cases, margin analysis, global IFO understanding)
  • Makes data-based decisions, yet still functions with ambiguity
  • Extremely organized, motivated, and results-oriented

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
  • International experience
  • Experience as a Project Manager

Travel Required
  • Frequent travel to regions required, estimated at 5 nights per month
