Reporting to the Human Resources Business Partner, the Human Resources Assistant (Co-op) will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties in support of Aecon's Human Resources Department. This role will be supporting multiple levels within the Human Resources department. This role will allow the individual to gain exposure to all aspects within Human Resources; Compensation, Learning & Development, Payroll, Recruitment, On-boarding, Employee Relations, Engagement and HR Policies. This multifaceted position will require an open-minded individual who is ready to apply the education in which they have obtained.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Information System
Frequent utilization of the HRIS database (SAP)
Assist the HR department by running various Ad Hoc reports as required
Recruitment
Utilize the applicant tracking system to screen candidates
Post and maintain job advertisements using the applicant tracking system
Create and update recruitment trackers
Assist in sourcing and pre-screening candidates
Schedule interviews and participate when necessary
Attend career fairs as needed and participate in campus/co-op recruitment
Communicate with HR team to provide accurate and timely recruitment updates
Onboarding
Assist with preparing orientation packages for new hires
Provide support to Human Resources Administrator for all onboarding processes
Other
Responsible for maintaining and tracking all inactive user accounts
Responsible for updating and creating Aecon employee resumes in the database
Assists with drafting announcements and monthly calendar
Assist in various HR projects
Files administrative documents in employee files
Maintain and update all electronic employee files within the database
Assists with coordinating and organizing office events
Fosters Aecon's Core Values the department and throughout the company
Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of Human Resources
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge & Skills
Completing Post-secondary school education in Human Resources Management
Pursuing CHRP designation
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
SAP and/or HRIS experience is an asset
Accurate and detail oriented
Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
