AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to build on the depth of talent within our specialist Water Resources team in Edmonton, AB. This is a part-time variable position, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.
Our team is dynamic and supportive and will provide you an opportunity to lead a wide-variety of projects and mentor developing team members.
As a Senior Water Resources Engineer you will:
+ Be a key member of the Water Resources group in Edmonton.
+ Be involved in multiple projects across disciplines including urban water resources, storm water, water and sanitary sewer pipe network modeling; utilizing various software.
+ Provide technical leadership associated with all aspects of rural water resources projects.
+ Carryout sub-watershed plans, floodplain delineation/management analyses, erosion control studies, etc.
+ Conduct water resources studies, computer modeling, hydrologic analyses, hydraulic designs and preparing project reports.
+ Conduct field investigations for water resources projects, occasionally in remote areas.
+ Interacting directly with clients and problem-solving a variety of complex design and construction elements.
+ Working with an experienced team in a wide-variety of water resource opportunities.
+ Manage projects, project budgets and schedules independently or as a member of multi-disciplinary teams.
+ Prepare proposals including resource, fees and cost estimates.
+ Support business development pursuits primarily within Alberta and NWT.
+ Providing guidance and advice to developing engineers and review designs and reports.
+ Maintain strong relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities.
+ Taking responsibility for the quality of written, technical and graphic work in a senior review (QA/QC) role.
+ Interact and support other offices across Canada, with the majority of work taking place in the Edmonton office.
+ Apply both basic engineering principles as well as approaching situations with alternate perspectives and new ideas
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field
+ 12+ years progressive experience in that field with at least 5 of those years Canada
+ Extensive experience in watershed studies, drainage designs, and hydraulic and hydrologic analyses in northern climates, such as Alberta and NWT
+ Extensive experience in the design of hydraulic structures such as culvert crossings, drop structures, control structures, outfalls and other hydraulic structures
+ Good understanding of river engineering, river training, fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, river bed scour and revetments
+ Good understanding of environmental permitting processes and procedures
+ Extensive technical knowledge and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling required. In-depth understanding of standard computer modelling software packages such as HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS required; HEC-GeoRAS and HEC-GeoHMS preferred; MIKE 11 desirable.
+ Experience in dam breach and dynamic wave modelling
+ Extensive experience in working at project management level
+ Excellent oral and written English language presentation skills
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
+ Demonstrated project and team management skills with a high degree of leadership capability
+ Excellent skills in preparing written proposals, reports and public presentations
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Bachelor's degree - preferably Civil Engineering and background in water resources engineering
+ Preferred 25+ years progressive experience
+ Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Alberta, or eligibility for registration within next six months
